Hero Motors is a part of the 7,000 crore Hero Group. The group is a leading industrial house in Northern India and known internationally for it’s commitments and outstanding contribution to the two-wheelers industry in India. Hero Motors in its new identity is all set to venture into the Indian Consumer Household. With its latest “value for money” design range of two wheelers, it plans to reinforce old and create new customer segments.

The prime mover for Hero Motors has been engineering satisfaction, which is a part of the work culture of the group. This has driven Hero Motors to seek newer avenues to transform products that meet changing consumer needs.

Under the able leadership of Mr. Pankaj Munjal, the turnover of Hero Puch has grown rapidly – at 30 percent and exports at 100 percent annually. Hero Puch has maintained a leadership position in export of two wheelers for four successive years.

Market Scenario
Hero Motors has been a specialist in their segment starting from the cycles that they have been known for to the variants of mopeds that they have been rolling out. Today, Hero Motors has 21% of the moped market share in India. The company believes that there is a great scope for cycle users to graduate to mopeds, provided there is the right initiative to get them interested. Hence the company is trying to establish this by going to the semi-rural areas to demonstrate benefits of mopeds.

Hero Global Design-Integral Part of Hero Motors
Designing is an integral part of the group activities. Hero Global Design (HGD) started as a very small unit with about 15 engineers and has grown to a 70-man unit today. They do engineering designs for Eaton, Germany, CAM profiling for Pipex and Sunbeam Casting, bumper design for Eicher.

Beyond business
Apart from the economic contribution to the nation, the group is known for it’s dedication to the social sector. It manages several charitable organizations comprising of schools, colleges and hospitals.
